Getting Started

1. Apply

The first step is applying for your commission. I'm only able to take one commission at a time, so when I open a slot I have to choose from interested parties. The best way to handle this is for those interested parties to apply for the slot, at which time I choose one. You can get more in-depth info here.

Get A Quote

You gotta tell me what you want, so you'll head over to either the Illustration Quote Request or Graphic Design Quote Request forms, fill them out, and send it in. My trained monkeys will give it a looksie and get back to you ASAP with some pricing options. You don't have to wait for an open slot to get a quote! I'll address all inquiries, but I may not be able to start your work until I can open a commission slot.

2. Let's Chat

Once I've accepted your application, it's time to talk about what you want. I should already have most of what I need from you at this point, so you'll get an e-mail confirming that I understand your goals and presenting you with two or three options that fit into your budget—for example, I may suggest basic watercolors for the whole thing, or an inked background with shaded characters. Make sure you whitelist arcane@arcworksdraws.com or my email may end up in your spam!

We may have a little back-and-forth to make sure I fully understand what you're looking for; once we've got that all squared away, and you've got a quote you're happy with, I'll get a final confirmation and we can take care of payment.

If you're getting adult work, you'll have to go through a basic age-verification to make sure it's legal for me to provide you with adult services. You can find out more about this on my After Dark page.

3. Payment

Now it's time to handle the unpleasant subject of money. Yuck. Fortunately, it's pretty straightforward: I'll send you an invoice, you'll click the payment link, enter your deets, and we're good to go.

4. Delivery

Now I can get started! The first step here is to get a very rough sketch to you. This will establish blocking, layout, character positioning—that kind of thing. This sketch will give you a general idea of what your commission will look like. You'll either confirm it or make requests, and then it's a straight shot to the finished piece.

This is probably the last WIP (work-in-progress) sketch you'll see, so make super sure it's what you want! From here I need maximum artistic freedom to pour myself into your work and deliver something with the whole of my ability.

Once the piece is completed, in most cases you'll get three versions: a 600dpi (dots-per-inch) version for printing, a 300dpi version for casual viewing on your computer, and a version with a banner/watermark for sharing online in galleries and social media.

All Done!

That's pretty much it! There may be more details here and there, but you can learn more about them on the rest of my website.

I'm very much looking forward to hearing from you! Take care!
